IIT- Bombay scientists have said the sweet pills work on the principle of Nanotechnology
16th Dec. 2010, Malathy Iyer, TIMES OF INDIA- DELHI EDITION

Homeopathic pills containing naturally occurring metals such as Gold, Copper and Iron retain their potency even when diluted to a nanometer or 1 billionth of a metre. This article states the IIT- Bombay research article was published in the latest issue of `Homeopathy', a peer reviewed journal from reputed medical publishing firm Elsevier. IIT -B's chemical engineering department bought homeopathic pills from neighborhood shops, prepared highly diluted solutions and checked these under powerful electron microscopes to find nanoparticles of the original metal. Dr. Jayesh Bellare and his student Prashant Chikarmane, presented the paper titled `EXTREME HOMEOPATHIC DILUTIONS RETAIN STARTING MATERIALS: A NANOPARTICULATE PERSPECTIVE' as part of his doctoral thesis. Researchers have demonstrated for the first time by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), electron diffraction and chemical analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), the presence of physical entities in these extreme dilutions. These findings challenge current thinking about the role of dilutions in homeopathic medicines.

HOMEOPATHY IN VETERINARY SCIENCE

Facts show that homeopathy is an ideal system of medicine for cattle and pet animals as well. At the recent International Agro fest at Chandigarh it was noted that long queues formed at a homeopathic outlet for medicines being distributed for several common animal maladies. The trend of homeopathy for animals is growing fast says Inderjit Singh Grewal a farmer and now a practicing veterinary homeopath. Grewal has also pioneered a manufacturing unit for homeopathic drugs for animals at Mohali near here. He admits that use of homeopathy for animals is not a new concept but has been around for decades, "it is just that cattle owners are finding the drugs to be non-toxic, entirely without side-effects and cost a fourth of what veterinary doctors charge". Ajmer Singh who runs a dairy farming business at Mohali says " the good part is that these drugs are cheap and non-toxic".

At Dr.Dinesh's Rapid Cure Specialty Homeopathy Clinic veterinary doctors come for advice regarding treatment for ailing sheep, goats and cattle as well as pet animals suffering from various ailments which their experience shows, do not respond well to allopathic treatment. A good Samaritan and bird lover also takes advice on how to treat sick wild birds including Peacocks (the national bird of India) who are especially prone to inadvertent poisoning when they eat grains sprayed with pesticide.

HOMEOPATHY - EUROPE'S ALTERNATIVE FOR DOCTORS
Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.con/dana-ullman/homeopathic-medicine-euro_b_402490.html

Numerous surveys over the past 150 years have shown that people who take homeopathic treatment tend to be considerable more educated than those who don't. What is not known is that homeopathic medicine is the leading `alternative treatment' used by physicians in Europe and growing numbers of the citizenry. Despite homeopathy's growing popularity in Europe, it is actually more popular in India where 100 million people depend solely on this form of medical care. According to an A C Neilson survey in India, 62% of homeopathy users in India have never tried conventional medicines and 82% of homeopathy users would never switch to conventional medicines. Skeptics of homeopathy have trouble explaining how so many people use and rely upon this system to treat themselves for so many acute and chronic diseases; and a large number of these do not use anything else.

how it works
Homeopathy is a much maligned system of medicine only because it is not understood in its entirety. Modern medicine or `allopathy’ (nomenclature used by Dr.Hahnemann) leans heavily on today’s science to explain its methodology.
